August 9th is a special day for all Singaporeans as we come together to celebrate Singapore’s independence – we know that we are missing the big celebrations due to the pandemic but – there is still plenty to do no matter where you are this National Day and we have compiled your National Day to-do list!

Catch the NDP Live online!
While the National Day Parade is being postponed to 21 August to keep everyone safe, there is no reason not to look forward to it! A ceremonial parade will be held instead on the original date of Aug 9. Do keep updated on the NDP page for more information on how you can catch the live show.

Join us virtually in celebrating Singapore’s 56th Birthday!
Join SGN at our first-ever global show to celebrate National Day and what it means to ‘come home’ in our new normal. Featuring a 6-hour long programme hosted by Hossan Leong and produced by Singapore’s own Creative maestro Dick Lee, SGN brings you our inaugural virtual celebration featuring segments with local talents such as Kumar, Irene Ang, Sylvia Chan, Suhaimi Yusof, and performances by brb, Taufik Batisah and Disco Hue.
Catch a glimpse of what others in your community are up to, as we introduce our overseas Singaporeans that have left home to pursue their dreams, and reminisce with them, of what they miss most about Singapore. And join us in a live sing-along session of ‘Home’ with Dick Lee, as he shares his journey and what inspired him to compose what has become the ‘song that unites Singapore’.
You can also look forward to taking a virtual tour through your favourite places in Singapore, led by Discovery Walking Tour’s Alan Chua, and a special viewing of Grandmother Tongue from Wild Rice.
The programme is available on demand throughout the National Day weekend till 9 August. Participate in a Virtual Dance and Choir
If you are away from home and still want to be a part of the National Day Parade, it is time to get singing and dancing! Gather your friends and family and stand a chance for your video to be featured in this year’s NDP21 Virtual Choir and Dance of the Nation (Virtual Dance).
Watch the introduction videos prepared by August, the merlion, to aid you in submitting your best entry to both Virtual Choir and Virtual Dance videos that will be aired on all NDP social media platforms! The NDP committee would love to showcase all of our fellow Singaporeans and friends globally so let’s show Singapore your songs and dances from all around the world!

We know some of you are missing home, so we have put together a bunch of resources so that you can celebrate this day wherever you are around the world! There are colouring and craft activities for the family, a trivia quiz so you can have your very own Trivia night, a YouTube and Spotify playlist of all the hottest National Day jams, as well as we local recipes to recreate memories of Singapore!
