Chapter 1: Not exactly ‘Crazy Rich Asians’

In our first chapter, follow Marcel, a French expat who has just landed in Singapore! Read on to find out how his initial impressions of Singapore changed after his first local meal!

Chapter 2: Regardless of Race, Language or Religion

Every nation has its own unique culture, but what is Singaporean culture really like? In the second part of our #FromExpatToExpert series, French expat Marcel explores his neighbourhood, chows down on some Uncle Roger-approved egg fried rice and finds out what “being Singaporean” is really all about.

Chapter 3: Going Glocal with Singapore’s Arts Scene

Singapore’s more than just F1 Grand Prix and hosting A-list celebrities – we are home to a vibrant and exciting entertainment scene. In Part 3 of our #FromExpatToExpert series, French expat Marcel is here to share all about his favourite local acts in Singapore!

Be sure to check out Marcel’s carefully curated Spotify playlist that features some of his favourite artists HERE!

Chapter 4: Is Singapore a concrete jungle?

Beneath all the towering steel skyscrapers and dense cityscape, Marcel takes a break from the bustling city to reminisce the great outdoors like he did back in France. In Part 4 of our #FromExpatToExpert series, follow Marcel as he discovers Asian and colonial architecture in Singapore, and explore the nature and lush green spaces that dot almost every corner of our island.

Season’s Greetings: A very Marcel Christmas!

The holiday season may be a little different for many of us this year, especially with the travel restrictions in place. In this #FromExpatToExpert holiday special, join Marcel as he discovers the different, multi-cultural ways to celebrate Christmas in Singapore!

Chapter 5: Is Singapore an efficient city?

👀 It’s a bus… it’s a train… it’s Singapore’s fantastic public transport system! Can you get around Singapore with only public transport? In Part 5 of our #FromExpatToExpert series, Marcel is off to work (and some TGIF drinks after) and discovers how efficient and innovative Singapore’s public transport system really is.

Chapter 6: The Mystery of the Void Deck

Under our many towering residential buildings (also referred to as HDB flats), there exists a little space unique to Singapore and known locally as the ‘void deck’. In Part 6 of our #FromExpatToExpert series, French expat Marcel explores the void decks in his estate and discovers why this common space holds a special place in our hearts.

Fun fact: Did you know that there are more than 1 million HDB flats in Singapore?

Chapter 7: Inside the Foodie’s Paradise

✨Tell me you’re Singaporean without actually telling me you’re Singaporean✨ From chope-ing tables with tissue packets to mastering drink orders in local lingo, our unique eating culture is how you can tell that a person is Singaporean. In Part 7 of our #FromExpatToExpert series, French expat Marcel journeys down memory lane and thinks back on how Singapore’s rich food culture has helped him to learn and love the city.

Chapter 8: My Singapore Adventure

Singapore may be small, but it is a developed, urban city that’s packed with adventure and culture at every turn. Even on our ordinary days, we still experience nuances of “kampong spirit” (or neighbourly love) in the way that we interact with one another. In the grand finale of our #FromExpatToExpert series, French expat Marcel takes a trip down memory lane and recounts his great Singapore adventure thus far.

If you are a new expat in Singapore like Marcel, a returning Singaporean or just someone who needs some information on living, working and playing in Singapore – we have a guide for that!
