Whenever I am feeling low, I look around *my pantry* and I know – if you’re stuck home this National Day, why not dig into some Singapore flavours? Nothing spells out home than a comforting plate full of your local favourites – better yet, these are so simple to make

Here’s a tip for your trip to the local Asian grocer. Pick up some quick-whip essentials and put together an easy, taste-of-local meal at any time with the good ol’ sambal, laksa or chicken rice paste!

Now that your tummies are all filled up, why not Stand Up in the spirit of Singapore and decorate the house? Psst… you might want to get the kids to help with this! Print out this National Day bunting design and whip out some scissors to cut out themed streamers that you make your home feel just like Home again.

If the past few months of stay-home measures have made you a pro in front of the camera, come and join the Our Heart For Singapore (#OurHeartForSG) campaign to share your reflections, words of thanks, and aspirations for our motherland.

  • Stories: Share how you overcome challenges brought about by COVID-19.
  • Gratitude: Express your appreciation for your families, those on the frontlines and community heroes who stepped up.
  • Songs: Belt out your favourite NDP songs, or simply write your own! Did you know that the iconic song, “Where I Belong”, was written and composed by Tanya Chua as part of the Sing Singapore project?
  • Pledges: Pen your hopes for Singapore and how you will commit to making a difference.

One People, One Nation, One Singapore”

This year’s National Day Parade will be a digitalised experience – which means that even if you’re miles away from home, you can still join in the fun as One People, One Nation, One Singapore! Themed activities will run from morning to night on August 9th and live broadcasts will be made available on TV and internet platforms.

“Song for Singapore”

What is National Day without jamming to a specially composed NDP theme song? This year’s song, aptly titled “Everything I Am” includes themes of family, togetherness, kindness, and gratitude. Performed by Nathan Hartono, this is one song that tugs at the cockles of our hearts and reminds us of the unwavering community spirit we have in this little red dot.

Wherever you are on 9th August, soak in the Singapore spirit and *stream* a song for Singapore on our National Day Spotify playlist now!
